Which Super Power Would You Want?

I found this poll interesting. The majority of you wanted to be able to read people's minds. I would not want any of the other options for superpowers that I posted other than to be able to fly. Yes, at first it is tempting to be able to read people's minds, be invisible and predict the future but think about it for a moment. With all of those options, you may see things you would not want to see. I don't want to know what may lie ahead. I don't want to see things I shouldn't and I dont want to know what people are always thinking about me or anyone else. Once in a while would be nice, but what if you see, hear, or find out something bad? I am a huge worry wart, so for me, the less I know ahead of time, the better. I suppose it would be nice if you knew all would be well, a promotion was ahead, etc. but I wouldn't wish to know the bad stuff at all. So, with that said, my super power would be to fly. I do a lot of travel with work and flying would get me there faster. Plus, imagine the beautiful sites I may see from a bird's eye view?

What is your favorite season?

Since deciding to do some polls on my post to make it a little more interactive, I decided once the poll has closed and I have posted another, I would explain my choice for the closed one. So, in case you haven't guessed by the picture, my favorite season is Fall. (You all have chosen to end in a tie between Summer and Fall.)

I love Fall for many reasons but here are a few.

1. It no longer has the heat of Summer that can sometimes be too much for me (even though I live in Maine!) and it doesn't have the bitter cold Winter always brings. To me, it is just right.

2. The colors. I just love to see the trees turn such beautiful shades and the past two Falls I have made a trek to NH and seen some beautiful sites. I also got married this past Fall and loved the "Harvest theme" we used.

3. Although this may sound funny, I love the smell of Fall. I don't know what it is but there is a crispness in the air and I can smell it.

My brother and sister may argue that I secretly love Fall because they were both born in Fall months (Trent in early September and Kristi in early Oct.) :)

The Tony Bird has a Face!

So, as I stated previously, my bird book (thanks Trent and Laureen for it...I use it all the time!) stated that the "Tony Bird" may be a Chickadee or another bird that I couldn't recall at the time of my post. As you may also remember, Tony was upset to hear it was such a common bird and not something unique. I personally love chickadees, as does my Mom, but he hoped a bird I named after him would be something rare. Well, thanks to some further investigation by my Aunt Cheryl who pointed me to the Boothbay Register's Southport article, I think it is safe to conclude it is most likely the chickadee.

Although it is a very common bird, I would like to remind my dear husband that it is handsome (he wouldn't like it if I said "pretty"), friendly (they say you can teach them to eat out of your hand and Tony and I have actually had them land on a feeder as we are filling it!), a hard worker (apparently they work with other birds and call out when foraging for food to let others know when they found some) and intelligent (it speaks 13 different languages...okay it has 13 very different calls...and supposedly its famous "chick-a-dee call is VERY COMPLEX) and finally, it is tough enough to withstand the Winter here! So, who wouldn't want to be named after a bird of that caliber? The Tony Bird

I know I posted about Spring the other day but I am even more sure it is here now. The snow is almost gone from our lawn and Tony and I took our first walk this weekend (we are regular walkers in the warmer months...so much so that people actually notice when we haven't walked in a few days when it becomes a regular habit for us.) Anyway, the final reason I am sure Spring is here, I have heard "The Tony Bird" more frequently.

What is this? A bird that sings a "phee-bee" type tune of high then low pitch over and over. I just love this bird and I have named it after my husband (Tony) because he used to use a tone like that to get my attention a lot. (I know, it kind of sounds like how you would call your dog...but trust me, to me it is endearing...lol.) What is the real name of this bird? I have no idea. I looked it up in my bird book and have narrowed it to a chickadee (it makes this call besides its well know "chickadee" call and a kind of sparrow I can't remember the name of now. If anyone knows what this bird may be that comes in the Spring and stays through the summer and makes that call, please let me know. Although I must say my husband was disappointed when I told him it might be a chickadee...he thought it was a unique bird that I had given his name too:) For now, it is "The Tony Bird."

It Feels Like Spring!

Today is the first day I can actually say it feels like Spring! (Of course they say a mess is coming tomorrow but we wont talk about that.) Tony and I have been anxiously watching for our birds to return to our feeder...he takes better care of them than I do lately! Anyway, I had my windows down a little in my car today and it is the first day I wish I could be outside instead of in! I am sure my husband is sure glad the weather is changing too...he works outside year round and takes a 3o minute boat ride to work everyday. (Of course I am sure he will miss all the days he got work off though because the Winter weather was too bad to take a boat.) The snow is almost gone on our lawn too! I just love watching everything come to life this time of year and it seemed like this Spring was never going to come! Happy Spring everyone!
